Head
Height : 30cms

Throughout the year Peter and I acquire all sorts of redundant clays, sometimes from studios potters other times from industrial processes. We reconstitute the clay into a thick slip and combine it with a paper pulp. We also add silver sand to give the material green strength.

When it has dried to a workable consistency it makes a very versatile material which offers endless scope to the artist.  I am self taught by the 'trial and error' method and have no formal art training.

I like the idea of making something permanent out of two waste products and this year I decided to make a head.

It's made from the 'paper clay' material, covered with copper oxide and once fired in an electric kiln to 1000C
