I started as a painter and illustrator, and later transferred these skills to working with textiles.
I work with mixed media and for many years have specialised in using recyclable materials of all kinds, in many different situations. This has included installations, 2D and 3D works, scenery for drama productions, backdrops, costumes and music.
With fabrics, a little like drawing with scissors, I cut free-hand, and make whatever the fabric suggests at the time. Techniques used include applique, patchwork, fabric painting, embroidery and embellishing. Different materials are mixed, new, vintage, and re-used.
