This piece was inspired after listening to an article about the amount of plastic we as a world population are polluting the seas and land, with and the horrific impact it has on marine life. It brings up the whole question of whose responsibility is it any way? The water boards, the councils, the road sweepers, the kids down town? Of course not every time we by something plastic or dispose of a plastic bag we are causing this accumulative genocide which eventually will lead to are own destruction. We as a human race are 'blessed with awareness' if we choose to use it. This is what sets us apart from the rest of animal kind. The crucifixion of the mermaid symbolises what we are doing to the oceans right now.
Its title is 'forgive them lord'.
