Gail has searched the world for wild scenery, fabulous costumes and cultures, only to often discover a darker side behind the exciting visuals.

This hanging was inspired by a sunny, happy scene on a Guatemalan hillside where some young indigenous girls were weaving glorious pieces of vibrantly coloured patterned cloth.

Behind them, higher up, were a few simple crosses marking a mass burial of the menfolk of the village, reportedly murdered by the militia.
