OFFERING

Harking back to a time in the far distant past when it was the norm to venerate & respect the environment.
The Ancestors had a wisdom & spiritual awareness of all that surrounded them & were not wasteful of resources.
They were close to Nature &, I believe, aware of Solar , Lunar & Elemental influences upon the Earth & every aspect of their lives.
These became sacred to them, leading them to create many gods & goddesses & to offer ritual & celebration within an ancient belief system.

This is my offering to the Moon & the Sea.

Circular, spiral & labyrinthine images have long beguiled me.
They permeate my thoughts, dreams & memories; suggesting metaphorical links between past & present, physical & spiritual.
To me, these profound symbols are primal & archetypal.
They inform both my painting & sculpture.
Moreover, I am inspired & spellbound by prehistoric & tribal art. They, too, speak to me of the old ways of the Ancestors, when it was the norm to honour & celebrate the Seasons, Nature & Mother Earth.
So, inevitably, my work hints at threshold, journey & ritual; flowing easily through ancient belief systems & becoming imbued with a certain earthy, tribal quality, which is often enlivened & complemented with colour or hand-made local earth pigments.
