'Boats and Beasts'
By Lipson Vale Primary School with Beaford Arts

A flock of imaginative beasts and a fleet of beautiful boats created by KS2 students from Lipson Vale Primary School; all media recycled from Beaford Arts and by the children involved with a bit of glue or paint to bring it to life!

The Artists:
The sculptural boats and beasts reflect collaborative work between the young artists from Lipson Vale Primary School, exploring their imaginative, enquiring and creative minds; each artist responded to the recycled materials to develop their own interpretations of boats and beasts.

The environment and inspiration:
Growing up, living and going to school in the South West, the young artists involved are fortunate to have both coast line and rural landscape on their doorsteps. This project draws strength from their knowledge and experience of different boats and beasts to create inventive artwork and an awareness of recycling and the effects of waste on their environment; both at sea and on the land.

Fixings & Media:
Created using polystyrene from Beaford Arts photocopier imaging units as the base, with bottle tops as eyes / wheels / life saving rings you name it, and straws / windscreen wipers / sticks for masts / tails, with plastic bags for sails / bodies / heads and plastic containers cut to shape ears / wings / noses / feet these are sculptures from your wildest dreams so enjoy!
