GLIMSHIMS

Influenced, as I am, by living on this delightful Estuary, sadly, sometimes sullied by litter. Prompts me to address some of the issues relating to the environment and pollution, particularly that of the seas and waterways, by creating what I trust could be considered 'a thing of beauty and amusement from the ugliness of indifference'.

It seems to me that plastic water bottles, allowing us the luxury of choice to drink, supposedly, unpolluted waters, are having an enormous environmental cost.

Bottled waters; still, carbonated, flavoured or enhanced, are being transported from near and far across the UK, imported from Europe and even further a field.

Human kind, although paying lip service to the reduction of carbon footprints, seems to disregard the fact that wildlife and marinelife are being needlessly harmed. As well as, the body of Mother Earth and her life-blood, the seas and waterways.

These are becoming contaminated with packaging. Ironically, a great many plastic spring water and mineral water bottles, carelessly left behind by some on their quest to improve their own bodies’ health, purity, beauty and serenity, by doing just the opposite to Mother Earth.

We seem to have lost touch with the wise ways of the Ancestors. We need to look back to the far distant past, when it was the norm to respect and venerate the springs, pools, streams, rivers and seas, as well as the land and all life. Before we can expect to regain that wisdom and heal the planet.

These are the Glimshims; spirit fish who are the guardians of water and guided by the Salmon of Wisdom. They have come to teach us and we must listen.
