Title: 'Rock On'
The word recycle is used so much these days. I like the word ' frugal'. Using as much of the material, in as many ways as possible stretches the imagination and that is what we artists love about TRAIL, being pushed that bit further.
In collecting the materials it is interesting to remember that each one has a story behind it.
Many years ago I did some work in a sculpture studio and learnt how to make the re-usable rubber moulds for cold cast bronze sculptures. It was messy and smelly but I also had time to play and experimented with some resin furniture and garden pieces. The mould for the rocks has been home to frogs in the garden for years but now it will be out on show.
What goes into this piece is anything from the sweepings from the mosaic studio floor, nails and screws from our concrete moulds, Mum's old china, our neighbours mishap involving a strimmer and glass patio door to a piece of metal found on the pavement.
One man's rubbish is another man's treasure or, sadly, his problem.
