Kate Taylor:

Originally working in textiles I moved over to making wire flowers for an outdoor exhibition, which resulted in me doing a collaborative project with Suzanne Sanders for TRAIL last year. This change of direction prompted me to make jewellery from wire and beads. I have long been interested in recycling and the TRAIL project has given me the opportunity to look at my work in a new way.

My pieces are made from recycled commercial wire, some of my experiments that went wrong, and scraps of wire left over from my jewellery making with 'virgin' materials. I have a large supply of the latter as I keep all my off cuts just in case
The beads are from pieces bought in charity shops, car boot sales or donated by friends. This means that every piece I make of recycled jewellery is a one off.
