ACE Willow Work & Pottery

A Plastic World for Birds

Using reclaimed plywood, tree felled birch & willow, packing tape, plastic bags and created by physically disabled students at Brixham Adult and Community Learning Centre.

This summer's project is based on a birds nest and uses willow and recycled materials. The nest has been made by six students who are members of ACE with inspiration from Tutor, Vivienne Turner. This is a special pleasure for two who are blind who have enjoyed creating artwork for others to enjoy.

The pottery birds in the nest have been made in the ACE pottery class with Tutor Tessa Amies. Both groups have been supported by able bodied volunteers.

Working with plastic waste they have embellished the nest to reflect the problems mankind creates for birds; they can be trapped, maimed or killed by the plastics that we throw away.
