Beach Activites

Storyteller, Jeremy Holloway was on or very near the beach at Dawlish Warren, Dawlish and Teignmouth, with tales of stranded sea creatures in need of rescue, inspiring people to write their own stories or poems and make illustrated postcards to send home. Family and friends were delighted to receive illustrated stories and poems from the seaside.

Petra Turner, showed visitors to the beach how to make rugs and woven textiles from rubbish you normally throw away. Petra also helped with the making of collage postcards.

Devon born Petra has always lived locally near the sea, and spent a lot of her childhood here on the beaches of Teignmouth, and Dawlish Warren.
Petra practices her textile art focussing on using recycled materials. She says 'There is always something new and innovative that develops using scraps that are going to be thrown away, so any piece of work is going to be a one off. In this mass produced world, things can appear to be made to sell as cheaply as possible, often with little regard to longevity or individuality.'
